The 4 Points Race - 25th April 2014
The 4 Points Race took 13 boats on a fun race around Fahal Island, to a gate near the Qurum Wreck Buoy, west along the coast to Seeb Wreck Buoy, back to Qurum Wreck Buoy and home to PDO. Each boat had a different handicap based on their sailing ability and the age of their boat. The wind was variable swinging from the NW to the NE and ranging from 0 to 9 knots making the sailing very interesting and changeable, no sleeping on board! We had a lovely reach (and lunch) along the coast and some great kite runs for those with gennakers. All boats, but one made it as far as the Seeb Buoy. Unfortunately, the wind switched off later on, and a tow home was necessary for some. It was still a great day on the water, with lovely scenery and a bit of fun playing catch up! Special thanks to Stephen and Luca on the rib and to the boat club team too, for making it all possible. Thanks also to the sponsor, TUBOSCOPE and Dave Clark for organizing the event.
